Savory Curried Almond Butter? Yep, it’s a thing you need in your life. This recipe takes about 10 minutes to whip up and it’s melting with flavor and nutrition benefits.
I was inspired to create this when I made my Creamy Golden Milk Coconut Bisque so that I would have a nice little side of something for dipping, as well as some extra protein. The curry goes perfectly with the Indian flavors of the bisque, so I highly recommend you make them together. This almond butter is also a great thing to have around for lettuce wraps or veggie dipping.
Why You Should Eat It
Almonds are a yummy source of Vitamin E, providing you with antioxidant support and protecting your other fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, K) so that they can each do their own thing inside your beautiful body. These crunchy little nuts are also a nice way to get some plant-based protein and calcium in your diet, plus they have healthy fats and fiber that may help to raise levels of immune-boosting bacteria in your gut.
Lately, I’m all about the Indian flavors, enter this Savory Curried Almond Butter recipe. Curry powder is a combination of South Asian spices – usually turmeric, ginger, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and fenugreek. It can actually vary and include some other spices as well, like cayenne, cloves, and nutmeg. Turmeric is a total star, having numerous therapeutic benefits like fighting inflammation, improving cognition, and battling free-radicals with its antioxidants. The other spices in this blend also contribute their own perks, for example, cinnamon is great for blood sugar regulation, coriander is a digestive stimulant, and cumin can improve immunity. I love that simple, wholesome food is such an amazing (and delicious) medicine!
How You Can Make It
I definitely recommend using a high-speed blender or food processor to get the super creamy texture of this almond butter. If you’re using a regular blender it might just take a little longer and you may need to add a tiny bit more olive oil, but give it a shot and let me know what works for ya!
So, take make this delicious dip, you put all the ingredients in your blender and turn it on…still with me? Then, you slowly increase the speed, stop to scrape down the sides occasionally, and blend until buttery and smooth. I know that was really complicated! Give yourself a pat on the back.
Savory Curried Almond Butter
Yield 3 /4 cup
This almond butter puts a savory spin on an old favorite by adding curry powder, sea salt, and black pepper. It's smooth and satisfying and can be used on toast, for dipping veggies, or just about any way you want!
- 1 cup raw almonds
- 4 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 1/2 tsp curry powder
- 1/8 tsp fine sea salt
- 1/4 + 1/8 tsp black pepper
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and start on low speed.
- Gradually increase speed, stopping to scrape sides occasionally and press butter into the blade.
- Continue blending until smooth and creamy.
